iPhone 16

Buy iPhone 16 Now or Wait for iPhone 17? What is Better in 2025?

Hey guys, are you also confused whether to buy iPhone 16 now or wait for the launch of iPhone 17? This is a big question in today’s time, because iPhone 16 is also available on discount in Flipkart’s Big Billion Days (BBD) sale, and iPhone 17 is just two months away.

So let’s break it in detail today — where does iPhone 16 stand in 2025, what are its pros and cons, and is it worth waiting for? You will get a clear idea after reading this post, so stay tuned!

iPhone 16 Pricing and Discounts

Right now the price of iPhone 16 is around ₹60,000–₹62,000 in online markets like Flipkart, after all offers. In offline stores it is available for around ₹65,000.

But here’s what’s interesting — with the launch of iPhone 17 in September 2025 (8th or 9th September), the official MRP of iPhone 16, which is currently ₹80,000, will drop to ₹70,000.

And in BBD sale (17–18 September) this phone can be found in the range of ₹50,000–₹52,000. Yes, this is true! This can save you ₹8,000–₹10,000.

If you like to buy offline, then at that time iPhone 16 will be available around ₹58,000–₹60,000. So if the budget is tight, then waiting for two months can be a smart move.

How is iPhone 16 in 2025?

The iPhone 16 is a solid phone in 2025, but is it still value for money? Let’s see.

Design and Display

The design of the iPhone 16 is future-proof. Its look will not look outdated even with the iPhone 17, because the designs of both will be almost the same, especially in black and white colors. The 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display is good, but the 60Hz refresh rate now looks outdated. Competitors like Samsung or OnePlus offer 120Hz, so there is a slight lack in scrolling or gaming. Brightness and colors are top-notch, but if you want smooth animations, then this is a minus point.

Performance and iOS 26

The iPhone 16 has an A18 chip, which is powerful and gives solid scores in benchmarks. Performance is smooth with iOS 26, especially after Beta 3. In the earlier betas, it did feel a little hotter, but now it’s sorted. In the long-term, iOS 26 runs well with full features — notifications, multitasking, everything is smooth. But the background tasks of Apple Intelligence can eat up a little battery.

Camera

The iPhone 16’s camera system is slightly better than the iPhone 15. The 48MP main camera delivers sharp photos and 4K 60fps videos. The 12MP ultrawide is improved in low-light, and the customization to photographic styles is good. The selfie camera is also decent, but not a major upgrade. If you’re a first-time iPhone user, this camera will impress you, but iPhone 15 users may not notice a big difference.

Battery Life

Battery life is the same as the iPhone 15 — it lasts a day comfortably in normal usage. But the phone gets a little warm during Apple Intelligence tasks or outdoor video shooting and the brightness can also drop. For heavy users, the iPhone 16 Plus may be better, as its battery is slightly bigger.

Action Button and Camera Control

The Action Button is a highlight — easily customizable and perfect for the camera, flashlight, or shortcuts. The Camera Control button is also good, but a little tricky to use. You can capture a video or photo by pressing and holding, but it is not as seamless as the action button.

What Will Be New in iPhone 17?

iPhone 17 leaks suggest that the phone will get some upgrades:

Display

A bigger 6.3-inch display and 120Hz refresh rate — this is a game-changer!

Camera

24MP selfie camera, better than the iPhone 16’s 12MP.

Chipset

Latest A19 chip (probably), which will offer slightly better performance than the A18.

Battery

Slightly improved battery life.

Colors

New rumored colors like Steel Grey, Green, Purple, and Light Blue.

It’s worth waiting for these upgrades, especially the display and refresh rate, if you want a smooth experience.

So Buy Now or Wait?

My take is this:

If the budget is ₹55,000–₹60,000:

Wait for two months. iPhone 16 will be available for ₹50,000–₹52,000 in BBD 2025, and maybe the 256GB variant will also come in the budget. 128GB seems basic now in 2025, as the size of apps and games is increasing.

If the budget is ₹70,000+:

Wait for iPhone 17. For ₹75,000–₹80,000, it will be value for money with 120Hz display and better camera.

If you have already bought iPhone 16:

Don’t Regret! This is a balanced phone — with solid performance, good cameras, and a future-proof design. Just enjoy and share your experience.

Final Thoughts

The iPhone 16 is a balanced phone — good design, solid performance, and decent cameras. But the 60Hz refresh rate and minor upgrades put it slightly behind the iPhone 15. If you can wait a couple of months, the iPhone 16’s price drop or the iPhone 17’s better features will give you more value.
