Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Review

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Review: 200MP Camera, Snapdragon Beast & More!

Samsung has launched its new flagship foldable phone, the Galaxy Z Fold7, and this phone is truly a game-changer! This phone gives off futuristic vibes with a premium feel. So let’s open its box and see what’s new this time.

What’s In The Box?

When I opened the box of the Galaxy Z Fold7, the first thing I noticed was the sleek packaging. In the box you get:

  • Galaxy Z Fold7 (obviously!)
  • A Type-C to Type-C cable
  • User manual and SIM ejector pin

Yes, charger is still not included, which is a little disappointing, but this has become common in premium phones now. The design of the box is minimalist, and the phone feels premium as soon as you hold it in your hand.

Physical Changes: Slim, Sleek, and Super Lightweight

Slimmest Foldable Ever

This is Samsung’s thinnest foldable phone till date – only 4.2mm in unfolded state! Compare it to Galaxy S25 Ultra (8.2mm) which is slimmer than the previous model. It is 8.9mm in the folded state, which is quite compact than the Galaxy Z Fold6 (unfolded 5.6mm, folded 12.1mm). The frame is slightly curved, which feels extremely comfortable in the hand.

Lightest Z Fold

It is also a champion in terms of weight. 215 grams – yes, lighter than the Galaxy Z Fold6 (239 grams) and Galaxy S25 Ultra (218 grams). Even the iPhone 16 Pro Max (227 grams) is heavier than it! This means it easily fits in the pocket as well.

Bigger, Better Front Display

The outer display is now 6.5-inch, which is slightly bigger and noticeably wider than the 6.3-inch of the Z Fold6. This wider display feels like a normal phone – typing, scrolling, or using apps is now much more comfortable.

Btw, if you don’t know more about these physical changes, you can check the specifications on Samsung’s official website.

Display: Big, Bright, and Beautiful

The inner display is now an 8-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, bigger than the previous 7.6-inch. It comes with a 120Hz refresh rate and delivers 2600 nits peak brightness – be it indoors or outdoors, the display is extremely vibrant and crisp.

One new change is that the inner display now houses a punch-hole camera, removing the earlier under-display camera. This offers better quality for selfies and video calls.

The outer display is also a 6.5-inch Full HD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, with 120Hz and Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protection. The pop of colours and the video watching experience is up a notch this time.

The crease (fold line) is much less noticeable now, thanks to the redesigned Armor Flex Hinge. This hinge is optimised for both durability and slimness, and gives an almost zero-gap feel when the phone is closed.

Performance: Power-Packed and Future-Ready

There is no compromise in terms of performance. The Galaxy Z Fold7 has Snapdragon 8 Elite 4G, which is a beast. Along with this, there is LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage – meaning multitasking, gaming, or heavy apps, everything will run smoothly.

This phone is the first Samsung device to come with Android 16 out-of-the-box, with One UI 8.

Samsung promises 7 years of Android updates and 7 years of security updates, so this phone is future-proof. It’s perfect for multitasking – you can run two or three apps simultaneously, use pop-up windows, and the animations are absolutely buttery smooth.

The ecosystem features of foldable phones are also full-on here, especially if you use other Samsung devices.

Camera: 200MP blast!

There are big changes in the camera department as well. The main camera is now 200MP – yes, for the first time in the Z Fold series such a high-resolution sensor! It has been redesigned for a compact form factor. Also:

  • 12MP ultra-wide (now with auto-focus, perfect for macro shots)
  • 10MP 3x telephoto (up to 30x digital zoom)

Photos are quite detailed and natural, especially compared to the Z Fold6, whose colours are a little more vibrant. Hair detection in Portrait mode is also improved.

There are upgrades in video recording too – you can now switch between lenses in 4K 60fps, which was previously limited to 4K 30fps. 4K 120fps for slow-motion and 4K 30fps for portrait video are also available.

I tested some photos and videos, and the results are impressive. There are improvements in night photography too – details and dynamic range are both top-notch.

Battery and Charging: Same Old, Same Old

The battery is 4400mAh, which is the same as Z Fold6. Despite the slim design, the capacity has not decreased, which is a plus point. Charging speed is also the same – 25W wired, 15W wireless, and 4.5W reverse wireless.

There is a little disappointment here, as faster charging could have been expected. There is IP48 water and dust resistance, and the sound quality of the dual stereo speakers is also amazing.

A New Decision: S Pen Support Removed

A surprising change is that S Pen support has been removed this time. This seems a bit odd, as the S Pen was quite useful for productivity in foldable phones. Perhaps it was sacrificed for the sake of slim design. If you are a fan of the S Pen, this thing can break your heart.

Real-Life Testing: How does it perform?

Video Recording

Recorded 1 hour 18 minutes of video at 4K 60fps, outdoor temperature 41-42°C, and the phone worked flawlessly. Battery was not full, otherwise it could have worked better.

Gaming

Played BGMI at 90fps indoors at 27-28°C. After 40 minutes of gaming on the inner display, the temperature was between 34-40°C, and the battery drained from 57% to 34%. Average FPS was around 85 – quite a smooth experience.

There was no major overheating issue, which is a big deal for slim phones. It is reliable for casual gaming, video calls, or camera use.

AI Features: Smarter Than Ever

One UI 8 comes with quite a few AI features:

  • Circle to Search and Generative Edit for photos
  • Audio Eraser for noise removal in videos and voice recordings
  • Gemini Live integration for smarter interactions

These features are quite useful in day-to-day life, especially if you create content.

Price: Premium Vibes, Premium Price

The starting price of Galaxy Z Fold7 is ₹1,75,000 (12GB RAM + 256GB storage). Yes, this is super premium, and will not fit in everyone’s budget. But the launch offer offers 512GB storage free in the 256GB model.

This phone is perfect for businessmen, productivity enthusiasts, or people who love a new experience. If you want a foldable phone on a budget, you can explore other options from Samsung.

Final Thoughts: Is it worth it?

The Galaxy Z Fold7 is a bold step in foldable tech. Slim design, bigger displays, powerful performance, and improved cameras make for a complete package.

Yes, the removal of the S Pen and the same battery/charging speed are a slight disappointment, but the overall experience is mind-blowing. This phone is for those who want multitasking, premium build, and cutting-edge tech.
